I don't really play France, but I'd personally pick the following, opting for a more "conquer mainland Europe through bloody annexation" style:ġ. If you want to paint the map through vassal annexation, get influence ASAP. If you want to paint the map through forced annexation, get administrative early. If you want to become emperor, influence or diplomatic is simply a must. If you want to colonize, get exploration first.
Economic usually isn't worth it, but this especially true as France given its already huge BT.īeyond that, I think it's more or less the same as other western powers. For example, you won't want religious unless you go protestant/reformed which, given their enormous size/BT, will be a really painful undertaking and not worth it IMO. With France, idea group picks are more about what *not* to get.
